Believe it or not, the car already has over 100,000 miles.  As this is being written (January of 2001) the car has 115,000 miles.

My commute of 50 miles each way contributes to the high mileage as does my travels to tracks throughout the Northeast.

What do I attribute to the reliability of a car that receives so much abuse, both on the track and off?  Mobil 1  I have run Mobil 1 15/50 since the first oil change at 5,000 miles.  The car receives quality filters (Mobil 1 or Fram) and new oil every 5,000 miles.  After almost three years, the oil is still gold when I pull it out at 5,000.  I've never had a sooty oil change in this car.  I also let the car cool down for 10 minutes after every track session to prevent coking in the turbo.

As far as failures go: I had a right rear wheel bearing go at 750 miles and an air sensor go at 113,000 ($500~ouch!).  That's it though.  I did replace the timing belt at 80,000 miles as a preventative measure.

Right now, I use Amsoil synthetic in the tranny and rear diff.  It provides much smoother shifts when hot and, again, is nothing but insurance.

Celebration

How do you celebrate the turn to 100,000 miles?  At the track of course!  I was lucky enough to have turned 100,000 miles at Poconos International Raceway!  Check out the pics.
